The NBA Conference Finals are set! For the most part, the playoffs have gone as expected with the 1 & 2 seeds from each conference advancing. There was a chance for the Clippers to make some noise, but they were silenced by the Rockets at home. Can't say that I'm surprised. I mean, it's the Clippers. Yes, they are a different Clippers team, but still, the Clippers! Winning big games just isn't what comes to mind when I hear that name. To allow a team to come back from a 3-1 deficit has to hurt. Maybe next season... maybe. On the other hand, a healthy Dwight Howard, James Harden mix should definitely give Golden State something to think about. With all that being said, I'm still banking on that Chef Curry v. King James final!
Firstly, the Cave would like to say CONGRATS to you A-Rod. First for being the first athlete to make the Cave's Sports tab twice in one year and second for becoming 4th on the MLB All-Time Homerun list! Last week he broke Willie Mays' record and blasted his 661st. I'm not sure if anyone else has done the math... but let's just assume that A-Rod retires at the same time that Barry Bonds did -which is the age of 43. That would mean that Alex has about 4 seasons to hit 101 home runs, that's about 25 home runs per year! So even IF he has a slump year, or maybe retires a season ahead or two, I definitely don't see him retiring at the #4 spot. Alex is on a mission to prove that PED's are not the reason for his success and he's proving it right now! The Yanks are red hot with a 3 game lead in the AL East, with Alex Batting .247 with 7 Home runs. BUT. The real question is... Does he still make the Hall of Fame? Take the poll and leave a comment of why or why not! The Cave votes yes! Round two of the NBA Playoffs is TURNING UP!!! Buzzer beater, after buzzer beater... AFTER BUZZER BEATER!! That's right, 3 buzzer beaters all in one weekend. Enjoy the clips just in case you missed it! The second round of the NBA Playoffs are set! The final 8 teams playing for a championship have been carved in stone. The Warriors and Cavs made short work of the Pelicans and Celtics, respectively, and are still the favorites to come out of the West and East. Unexpectedly, the Hawks had a little more trouble putting away the Nets than they would have liked. Honestly, I'm not too surprised. Atlanta teams are notorious for being front runners in the regular season and hitting a brick wall in the post season. We will have to wait and see if this is the year they finally make it over the hump. Stay tuned to the Cave for round-by-round updates. This was arguably the fight of the century! 6 years in the making and the world finally witnessed what we've all been waiting for. Pacquiao had his moments, but Floyd definitely had the fight in his hands for a large majority of the fight! So, were you pleased? Get your money's worth? Was the fight as close as Pacquiao thought? Do you think this would have had the same results 5 years ago? |
