It's that time once again! The 2015 MLB World Series is set in stone. This year, the Miracle Mets and the Red Hot Royals will square off to determine the best team in baseball. With game 1 scheduled for Tuesday in Kansas City, the Royals should feel a little more comfortable with home field advantage. On the other hand, the Mets haven't really had a problem with playing on the road. Both teams have explosive rosters that can turn up at any moment. The Royals have unfinished business from last season while the Mets are trying to prove that winning the Series in 1986 was not a fluke. No matter what happens, I will definitely be watching. Check out the television schedule so you will be sure to catch every pitch.
It's October baseball and I am loving every minute of it! However, to my surprise, the heros of the diamond aren't the usual suspects. It was a big deal when the Yankees made their return to the postseason and seemed quickly forgotten when they made their hasty exit. Now the Mets and Cubs are taking the spotlight and aren't planning to give it up any time soon. Well, the Mets aren't anyway... The Big Apple's red headed step-sister is not slowing down at all! They have a 2-0 lead on Chicago's lovable losers and seem hell bent on serving yet another warm serving of disappointment to the Cubs this year. With Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard Taking care of business in the first two games, it's going to be an uphill battle for the Cubs back at home. It's even worse when you take into consideration that both Lester & Arrieta were spanked by the Mets and when you factor in deGrom, it looks even worse. Tuesday's game will be a must win. The Cubs need to jump on deGrom if they have any chance of moving on any further. Knock him out early and get into that bullpen is the only hope. For the sake of my DraftKings lineup, I hope they can call upon Spirit of Wrigley for assistance. Or at least Henry Rowengartner...
Let's face it, if you're beyond 24 and not in anyone's league, making money playing fantasy sports is as real as it gets. Now, it's easier than ever. There are fantasy leagues all over the internet, but two in particular have come into the forefront of late. Many people heard that a DraftKings employee recently won $350K on FanDuel. This news has been getting a lot of buzz especially since there have been conversations about insider information contributing to the outcome. Investigations have not turned up any evidence of this, but are ongoing. This got me thinking, which site is "better"? Which site offers the most pleasurable playing experience? The Cave has recently began an experiment to determine which one is the most user-friendly, offers the best chance to win, and is the overall most enjoyable. Results will be made available once conclusive. Until then, what do you think?? Let us know which, if any of these sites you use and what kind of luck you've had!
This week was so exciting in the world of sports we couldn't just give you one story. Here are the the ups, down, & wish they never were's of sports... The GoodIt's October so you know what that means, post season baseball baby!!! And for the first time since 2012, the Bronx Bombers are definitely participating. The Yankees clinched the Wild Card with their 10,000th win in a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox. This is an especially significant feat for Yankee DH Alex Rodriguez who is coming off of a season suspension for PEDs. A-Rod leads the Yanks with 33 homeruns followed by Mark Teixeira (on 15-day DL) and former Brave Brian McCann. The BadBad is about the only way to describe the Atlanta Braves' season. They have had a tough year plagued by injury and just bad luck. With the season over and no chance of even making .500, the playoffs are nowhere in the cards. There have been very few ups to celebrate, but the team is looking forward to righting the ship for nest season. If they plan on competing, major moves will need to be made to bring in talent to fill the numerous holes in the lineup and some cash must be spent. Hopefully the front office sees this and will do what is needed. the 60-something wins they tallied this season will never cut it. The UglyThe SMU Mustangs were in the news again this week and it was an all too familiar story. The NCAA has banned the 'Stangs from the postseason for next season and Head Coach Larry Brown has been handed a 9 game suspension. This stems from a report conducted by the NCAA blaming Brown for knowing about and neglecting to act on multiple infractions which include academic fraud and not being forthcoming about them. It's definitely not a good look for the program and seems a bit unfair to the players, especially the ones that had no knowledge of it. If rules were broken, of course punishment is needed, but punish the right people, not everyone.
