The Gun Show Loophole
It is claimed that criminals use gun shows to purchase firearms because there is no background check required.
Now the truth:
Purchases made at gun shows between a licensed dealer and a customer must follow all the laws that apply to in-store purchases. This means that a background check is required.
The only time a background check is not required is when a transaction is made between private citizens. This can take place anywhere and it is up to the buyer and seller to ensure that the other is legally able to sell/buy the firearm. If not, criminal charges can be brought against either.
The thing is, most of the people who bitch and complain about a gun show loophole, have never been to a gun show. Believe it or not, the people selling firearms at these shows would rather lose a sell than their license. I dare you to try to buy a gun at a show without your I.D. You might as well have shown up with no money. You'll leave with the same thing.
